I had this done up pretty slowly although it was a small piece as I was putting the designs that I had excerpt from the Sajou's alphabets and some sampler motives that I took from magazine. And I have just the right band to do this and also the felt that goes pretty well with the whole piece. It's not troublesome to finish it....and anyone can quickly put this together.

I hope my recipient likes it as she said she does not have any needlebook....so I though I do up one for her......and that you can use it everytime you stitch and the small size of it makes it easy to carry around even in your handbag....:)

Hey! Autumn is over??? Nope don't think so. As I have just received my Autumn Mailart. :)Capturing the colours of autumn in the form of needlework is just awesome, isn't it....and also since Malaysia do not have autumn season...making this much more special.....hehehehe

Okay...here it is...sent by Harsha Farina from Singapore to my mother-in-law's address.... (since I was a little afraid that this item may get lost in the mail) Let me gues...I think this is by BC.......Thank you for the sweet mailart Harsha and she has kindly make a card with scrapbooking material to make the card stiffer....you can see at the back the orangy card.......off they join my other mailarts in the basket.....:)

Quaker Quarterly Exchange 7 (QQX7) - Theme: Beach and Sea

This is my 6th participation (as I missed the premiere exchange themed: Valentines) in this exchange and the theme is beach and sea. We have agreed on sand colour and anything of blue and green to depicts the sea.

I have decided to make a pincushion for this round and put some embellishment for the finishing. This is what it looks like after is has been completed and mailed to my dear partner Becky de Vries-Wong (I am sorry if I get the spelling wrong). It is a tufted square pincushion on 36ct unevenweave linen and floss that I dyed my own.

I think I should put this picture too....should give the credit to my models for modelling with the quaker pincushion ........he he he

This is my #3 daughter and #2 son admiring mummy's work....LOL!

Stitches of Yesteryears

Last month I went back to my parent's place for a visit...and I remembered the tablecloth that I did with my mom. Those years i.e. 25 years back, what we have is what we called now the Red Charts - where design are sold using red background and black symbols printed. And this one is one of those charts that we purchased. This is for my mom's dining table for 8 seating. Since it's a little too long for me to take snaps, I have folded it into 2 and took only half of it. Worked on I think on 10ct (maybe...can't be sure) Aida (expensive at that time but the cheapest now made from Taiwan I think....those days we know nothing of Zweigart).....so here it is..... 6 full strands of a mixture between Anchor, DMC and Cosmo threads (back then, we know no rule about separating those strands first and join them back before stitching...heheheheheheh)

I have completed the front piece quite a while ago and had abandoned it for quite sometime. I think I should pick this up again and complete it. Am having second thoughts either to finish it as per in the booklet or to do up as something else. Do you have any ideas to throw to me? One thought is to make it at a box topper. But then again, I might change my mind......

Today is my moving day. Well not moving out of my current house....but more of my cyberhouse. As some of you already know, I have my own bloggin spot hosted at bravenet. Since my free account there is somewhat integrated with all the other facilities, especially my bravejournal, website and photo hosting, and with the recent frequent visit from my dear friends, the download has caused my bandwidth traffic goes to the limit and they had to stop my journal/web until the next day to get my daily bandwidth back to normal.

So, here I am thinking if I should stay or not there and start a new one *sigh- all the customisation* I think rather than suffer not having my webspace available, I think I might as well, move out and find a new home.

I think over here, not so much of any limit (though it has it's limit for free accounts) but I think much more tolerable. So people, you will get to see my new home soon after I restore what I had at the other 'house' to here...in the mean time...please be patient with me....

Sampler House Exchange on LEG

After a very long wait, my exchange finally made it's journey after crossing continents and oceans. In my previous post, I received from Laurence in Switzerland and I am sending to Sue McLaughlin in PA. This has been a great experience doing sampler house as I am partial to houses.....

As you can see below, I have finished it into a needlebook with 2 pages. Credit goes to Merry Cox as I used her finishing technique in doing up mine.

The front of the needlebook. The ribbon is ran under the stitched fabric and tied a bow at the end of the booklet.

The rear view. The stitching are then tacked to the plaid fabric which is similar to a fabric we called 'pelikat' used as a sarong for the men.

The inside view of the book. I included 2 stickpins to be used as fabric counter/marker.

Seasonal Stitcher Exchange

I am part of the 2005/2006 Seasonal Stitcher Exchange at the Secret Stitchers BB and with only the first mailing done, I am already having loads of fun and the excitement of anticipation of getting the goodies in the mail. And having almost the same likes of things, gave me a mixed feeling of what I should put in for the first mailing....but, I get overexcited and bought almost anything that caught my eyes.... And of course there will be another round of shopping .... ehehehe

Well, here is what I sent to Amy Cooke (yes, she's my partner for a year and I think we are going to have wonderful year together exchanging gifts and stitches...

This is from the Tom Pudding (retired) freebie and stitched with Needle Odyssey's own handdyed cotton threads with shades of green and purple/mauve and give the right effect on the blackwork grapes.....and oh sorry no pics of the other goodies was taken.....

And this is what I received from Amy

With 2006 bouqet of roses calendar, a pack of DMC needles, a card, a tiny altoid tin, a pack of chicklets (yummyyyy...i love chicklets) and a bottle of Rose Bubble Bath ...waa hoo.....and of course....the scissors n needle keeper.....a SRE book....what a beautyy...... ahhhhhhhhh

Okay, this is the close up of the keeper......the front and the inside....and Amy is very kind to include a pair of scissors for me......Isn't that a beauty.....?

Here is the initial mailart that the group started. This group consists of a maximum 30 members worldwide. The theme that we have picked is Monogramme. And I decided to pick letter G from one of the Sajou's and have it all done in red! And lined it with burgundy felt. This is a much easier finishing that I like to do more in future.

Mail Art Friends by Needle & Thread Premier Exchange

For the love of mail art that we have came so fond of ever since it was started again a few years back....a group was setup with 30 memberships from all over the world.

And the premiere mail art that we launched was themed - Monogrammes with Gwen Lewis is the honorable 1st MailArt Coordinator. This is a fun thing to do as I have never really work on any monogrammes....maybe this is the time for me to start using those famous Sajou alphabets that I have. Butttt.....I am not going to show what I did for my partner as she has yet to receive it....instead below you will see what I have received from my sender Ana Sweet.

What can I say? I am partial to houses, gardens, samplers, alphabets (newly acquired taste). This exchange was organised by ChrisOR over at LEG (would require membership approval to join the guild)

This sampler house pincushion or pillow was sent to me by Laurence from Switzerland. I love the finishing and of course the house. The button - a porcupine just adds the touch to the overall finishing. Very cute! I love it. Not really sure whose this house belongs to....gonna have to check with Laurence

This is my first blog on my own web journal. I am so proud of it...tho' you will find nothing much has been put in. Sure...there will be more to come to fill up those empty spaces ...hi hi hi....
I think this is the 'in-thing' now....BLOGGING. I have read many blogs written by many people...all walks of life......and the most that I read about is on needlework - anything that may fall under this category......I think someone who read this will sneer at me....LOL! But hey! Can't get rid of this passion from me.....and I do...do other kinds of things.....and read other topics as well.....To that someone...I will do something that will be of use to you one day.....he he he he he
Currently I think Blogspot is the most commonly used by my stitching friends from all over. And there are other blog providers that would suit you best. I tot I would give Bravenet a good try.......And I think this is much easier to manage with my current level of programming.....*I think I need to get back into school*
